6.30am at the Port FitzRoy wharf and the over 100 race participants who are ready and waiting to start are briefed.  The rain has stayed away and there is anticipation of sunshine.  First to leave are the mountain bikers. Then the runners, followed by the walkers.  Cleaning stations were set up for all contestants to prevent the spread of kauri die-back disease.  These stations were manned by volunteers from the Department of Conservation.
